Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will not feature in Tuesday’s crucial Champions League match against Inter Milan. His omission is a direct consequence of his public criticism of the club, according to teammate Alisson Becker.
The 33-year-old Egyptian star was left out of the 19-man travelling squad for the fixture. This follows a hard-hitting interview Salah gave after Saturday’s match against Leeds United, in which he claimed the club had “thrown him under the bus.”
Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker addressed the situation with reporters on Monday. He stated, “Salah not being available is just a consequence of what he did, and he is smart enough to know that.”
Alisson confirmed he had not spoken directly with Salah about the issue but emphasised their strong personal bond. He indicated that a private conversation would take place, calling it a “personal” matter between the player and the club.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed uncertainty about Salah’s future when questioned ahead of the Inter match. He said he had “no clue” whether Salah had played his last game for the club.
Salah’s involvement has diminished recently. He was left on the bench for last month’s win at West Ham United. He made a substitute appearance against Sunderland but was again an unused substitute at Leeds.

In his interview, Salah expressed feeling like a “scapegoat” for Liverpool’s poor start to the season. The prolific forward has only scored five goals in 19 appearances across all competitions this campaign.
The team itself sits 10th in the Premier League, ten points behind leaders Arsenal after 15 games. Alisson voiced hope for a resolution, stating the players want a “win-win situation for everyone” and hope Salah plays for the club again. This situation highlights significant internal tension at Anfield during a challenging period.
