Mohamed Salah reported for Liverpool training on Tuesday amidst intense speculation about his future. The Egyptian star’s public fallout with manager Arne Slot has reportedly intensified interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. This comes ahead of the January transfer window.
Salah was omitted from Liverpool’s squad for the crucial Champions League tie at Inter Milan on Tuesday. This decision followed his extraordinary public criticism after being left on the bench for a third consecutive match. He posted a picture of himself training alone in the club’s gym on Tuesday. This act fueled the narrative of a fractured relationship.
A source within Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) told AFP the kingdom will do “whatever it can” to secure Salah. The source, speaking anonymously, stated they follow his situation “thoroughly.” They believe a move, either by loan or permanent transfer, is possible.

The PIF holds majority stakes in four of the top Saudi Pro League clubs: Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad. The source indicated competition exists within the league to sign the Arab world’s biggest football star. Moreover, Aramco-backed Al Qadsiah is also keen. They emphasized Salah would have a “massive impact on the Saudi League both on and off the pitch.”
When asked if Salah had played his last game for Liverpool, manager Arne Slot replied, “I have no clue.” He added that while Salah has a right to his feelings, he “doesn’t have the right to share it with the media.”
Salah’s grievances are clear. After being an unused substitute against Leeds, he stated he felt “thrown under the bus.” He revealed that promises made in the summer were broken. He claimed his previously good relationship with Slot had dissolved. Salah asked, “It seems to me… that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”
