Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, and the Leader of the Opposition, Malik Sikandar, have jointly agreed to suggest Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki as the interim chief minister.
Domki hails from the Lahri area of Balochistan and is the offspring of the former senator Mir Hazor Bakhsh Domki, who held the senatorial position from 1975 to 1977. Before this, Domki had met with the caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar at the PMO, accompanied by the former provincial chief executive, Jam Kamal.
Dissolution and Appointments across Pakistan
On August 12, the Balochistan Assembly dissolved after Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar approved the summary forwarded by CM Bizenjo. Balochistan’s legislative assembly was the final to dissolve, following similar actions in Sindh and the National Assembly due to the end of their constitutional durations.
A day before its five-year term was up, the dissolution of the Sindh Assembly was sanctioned by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, as advised by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. CM Murad and the Leader of the Opposition in the now-dissolved Sindh Assembly, Rana Ansar, agreed upon appointing Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar as the interim CM.
Fast forward to August 14, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar was inaugurated as the eighth caretaker prime minister of Pakistan, responsible for guiding the nation toward the forthcoming elections.
