Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has rejected international media reports concerning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder’s health. The minister described circulating stories in Indian and Afghan media as completely unfounded.
During Senate proceedings, Chaudhry confirmed the PTI founder maintains good health and receives all appropriate facilities. The statement came in response to points raised by PTI members during parliamentary session discussions.
State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry separately addressed the conditions of the PTI founder’s imprisonment. He described the detainee as “the first VIP prisoner in Pakistan’s history,” referencing access to unusual amenities.

The Senate resumed its session at Islamabad’s Parliament House with Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani presiding. Advisor to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali presented the Privatisation Commission Amendment Bill, 2025, for consideration. The chair referred the legislation to the relevant standing committee for detailed review. Senators subsequently adjourned the session until Monday at 4:00 PM.
According to Talal Chaudhry, no other prisoner in Pakistan’s history has received facilities comparable to those allegedly available to the PTI founder. These reportedly include dietary provisions, exercise equipment, and multiple separate rooms.
The state minister confirmed that family members continue meeting with the PTI founder according to standard jail manual procedures, with separate arrangements for legal consultations and official visits.
