Militants seized a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in the Bannu district and abducted hostages.
Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, a special assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on information, claimed no one attacked the police station. However, several terrorism suspects tried to steal guns from security officials.
“We’re in control.” He said the area had been blocked off, and an operation was underway.
A senior police officer in Bannu who requested anonymity told Dawn.com that 25 members of proscribed terrorist organizations were being interrogated at the CTD centre when they snatched the guns of seven security men and made them captives.
“Three injured cops have been evacuated and transferred to a hospital,” the officer stated.
In a Twitter message, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa MPA Samar Haroon Bilouris wrote, “Our KP on fire, Civilians and police are sitting ducks. How unfortunate that the nine-year rulers can’t speak. She stated of the PTI government, Those who can’t even denounce can’t control what they’ve imposed.”
