Microsoft is diving deep into refining the Xbox app on Windows 11, prioritizing a smoother experience, especially on handheld devices and compact screens.
In a recent release, Microsoft unveiled a test version of the Xbox app featuring a novel compact mode. The innovation trims down the left-hand side sidebar considerably.
Crafted to optimize “the experience on handhelds and small screens,” the update proves particularly handy for devices such as the ROG Ally, which sports a mere 7-inch display. A prior leak had already hinted at the Windows handheld mode concept, revealing insights into an impending floating taskbar, an enhanced game launcher, and more tweaks to the Xbox app.
The ROG Ally: A Mobile Gaming Revolution
The Asus’ ROG Ally is rapidly carving a niche as the de facto portable console for the PC Game Pass. In a chat with Eurogamer, Xbox’s chief, Phil Spencer, fondly labelled the handheld as his “Xbox on the go.”
The Xbox gaming community remains abuzz with anticipation, eager for additional updates and features to further refine their gaming experience. Microsoft has dropped hints about introducing the Quick Resume feature on Windows and potentially rolling it out across all devices.
