Microsoft has announced a price increase for its Xbox Game Pass subscription service, effective from July 10 for new subscribers.
The change follows the announcement that the next Call of Duty title will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. In addition to the price increase, Microsoft is introducing a new tier called Xbox Game Pass Standard, which excludes access to first-party titles on their release day.
New Pricing Details
The monthly subscription fee for Game Pass Ultimate in India will rise from Rs. 1,830 to Rs. 2,765. This tier provides access to a broad game library, day-one releases, and other benefits on both Xbox consoles and PC. The annual fee for Game Pass Core, which includes a selection of games and online multiplayer on Xbox consoles, will increase from Rs. 6,665 to Rs. 11,167. A monthly PC Game Pass subscription will also increase from Rs. 830 to Rs. 1,497.
While new members will face these updated prices immediately, existing subscribers will encounter the new rates starting September 12.
Introduction of Game Pass Standard
Microsoft is also launching Game Pass Standard, a new subscription level for Xbox consoles priced at $14.99. This tier will offer a library of hundreds of titles and all the benefits of Game Pass Core, including online multiplayer and discounts. However, it will not include day-one access to new first-party releases. Microsoft plans to make Game Pass Standard available in the coming months.
Moreover, Microsoft is discontinuing the Game Pass for Console for new subscribers, though current subscribers with automatic renewal enabled will continue to enjoy their membership benefits.
These changes are part of Microsoft’s strategy to enhance the overall value and expand the selection of games available on Game Pass. The announcement coincides with the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25, which will be available to Game Pass members from day one.
