Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced new AI-powered features for WhatsApp Business at the global Conversations event in Sao Paulo. According to TechCrunch, these enhancements aim to boost customer engagement and business interaction.
Zuckerberg stated, “Our vision extends beyond creating a singular AI assistant. We aim to enable multiple AIs, each serving distinct purposes, including business applications.”
He further explained that businesses could soon deploy AI agents to converse with customers, offer support, and facilitate commerce seamlessly.
One key feature allows the creation of Facebook and Instagram ads that initiate conversations on WhatsApp. Meta is currently testing AI-driven customer support, which can autonomously respond to queries about products or common questions.
This pilot is underway with select merchants in India and Singapore, with plans to expand to Brazil shortly.
Meta has committed to transparency, ensuring AI-generated messages are marked to distinguish them from human interactions.
Moreover, WhatsApp plans to use AI for targeted messaging, allowing businesses to reach specific customer groups rather than all subscribers.
Meta’s Ads Manager will also suggest ideal audience segments for tailored messages, extending beyond typical order updates.
Additionally, Meta offers these tools for free, providing cost-effective solutions for merchants aiming to enhance customer engagement without incurring extra expenses.
