Meta has launched its AI assistant in Urdu for Pakistan. This initiative aims to make powerful artificial intelligence tools accessible to a wider local audience.
The launch was announced at the “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation” event. The event was organized in collaboration with Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).
Pakistani users can now interact with Meta AI in both English and Urdu. This removes a major language barrier for millions of people.
Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima highlighted the importance of this step. She stated it ensures “no one is left behind” in the country’s digital transformation journey.

Sarim Aziz, Meta’s Director of Public Policy, expressed his delight. He said this gives the local community new opportunities to connect with technology in their own language.
The launch was part of a broader package of AI initiatives. Meta introduced a localized guide on using its open-source AI model, Llama, to improve government services.
The company also announced an AI Literacy Program in partnership with the Higher Education Commission (HEC). It will train 350 university teachers in basic AI skills.
Furthermore, a new program called Government Digital Transformation Xperience (GDTX) 2025 was unveiled. It will provide Pakistan’s public institutions with access to Meta’s technologies and best practices.
