The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman former cricket legend Imran Khan earlier today, formally launched countrywide membership campaign of the party.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad in this regard, Imran Khan said the campaign would continue till March 31 and after which intra-party elections would be held.
He opined that intra-party elections were the only way to maintain merit in the party. Being a democratic party, the PTI workers would choose their leaders themselves.
The party’s Election Commission and the Committee had jointly decided as to how to conduct elections while rejecting the panel system which created divisions in the party, he added.
Imran said a nine-member council along with a president each would be held at tehsil, district and provincial levels.
He also thanked Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif for providing 20-acre land in Karachi for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital. (APP)
