The brother of the former IGP of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Salahuddin Mehsud, was abruptly kidnapped and later tragically murdered by unidentified motorcyclists. District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed provided a detailed account of the unsettling events. Four assailants on two motorcycles orchestrated the abduction of Malik Ghulam Habib Mehsud as he was en route home.
While responding to the incident, SHO Gomal’s police vehicle chanced upon the fleeing motorcyclists. Recognizing their suspicious behaviour, the police pursued, leading to a chase marked by a hail of bullets from the kidnappers. Although the police vehicle was struck multiple times, the officers inside were unharmed. In their attempt to flee, the assailants retreated to a thickly wooded area known as Dabara.
Further investigations revealed an abandoned motorcycle in a stream, presumably left behind by the kidnappers in their hasty escape. Tragically, unable to flee with their captive, the kidnappers took Ghulam Habib’s life. His lifeless body was subsequently discovered near Manzai on Gondola Road.
