Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News personality, has sparked controversy by calling for a boycott of superstar Taylor Swift. The backlash stems from Swift’s attendance at comedian Ramy Youssef’s “More Feelings” comedy tour for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The tour has been donating its proceeds to humanitarian aid in Gaza, a decision that has drawn criticism from Kelly.
On her show, The Megyn Kelly Show, the host expressed her disapproval of Swift’s support for the event, emphasizing her concerns about the situation in Gaza, particularly regarding women’s and LGBTQ+ rights.
Kelly urged Swift’s fans to boycott her events until an apology was issued, accusing Swift of hypocrisy. She contrasted Swift’s advocacy for women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights in the US with the situation in Gaza.
Ramy Youssef, an American comedian of Egyptian descent, initially did not focus his tour on Gaza. However, during the Israeli-Hamas conflict, he announced a shift in his tour’s purpose. Youssef decided to donate 100% of the proceeds from his tour to the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA), aiming to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza.
The decision, and Swift’s support of it, has become a point of contention for Kelly, who is known for her often controversial takes on progressive celebrities and issues.
