Meghan Markle reportedly instructed security to keep David Beckham from Prince Harry during the 2018 Invictus Games in Australia. She feared the superstar might overshadow him.
David Beckham travelled to Australia but faced unexpected restrictions.
Tom Bower’s new book, “The House of Beckham: Money, Sex, and Power,” suggests that the Royals aimed to avoid overshadowing Beckham’s presence and the media attention he attracts.
Beckham and his wife, Victoria, attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018. However, their relationship soured, leading to the snub months later.
In October 2018, David Beckham travelled to Australia to participate in Prince Harry’s Invictus Games, which honour injured service personnel, and to meet with the Duke of Sussex. However, upon arrival, he found himself unexpectedly isolated at the stadium.

Bower writes that upon arriving on the agreed day to meet Prince Harry, Beckham felt perplexed as officials kept him entertained yet deliberately distanced from Harry.
When Beckham asked about the unusual arrangement, security told him that the prince had explicitly ordered that officials not allow the footballer near him under any circumstances.
Bower claims, “Officials even forbade photographs of the two together. The royal snub was brutal. David Beckham was puzzled. Why did the prince refuse to meet him?”
Bower explains that Meghan issued the exclusion order because she did not want Beckham, particularly his wife Victoria, to compete with them for media attention.
A report last year mentioned that the Beckhams were “absolutely bloody furious” following allegations that they had leaked stories about the Sussexes to the media.
