In her latest single, “Hiss,” Megan Thee Stallion subtly targets Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, a registered sex offender.
The song, released on Friday, contains lyrics that reference Megan’s Law, a U.S. federal law for public disclosure of sex offender information, indirectly alluding to Petty.
This law was established following the tragic case of 7-year-old Megan Kanka, a victim of rape and murder, by Jesse Timmendequas, a convicted child molester, in 1994.
Petty, 45, was convicted in 1995 for attempted rape of a 16-year-old and failed to register as a sex offender in California after moving from New York, pleading guilty in 2021.
Following the release of “Hiss,” Minaj previewed a new song targeting Megan’s 2020 foot injuries caused by Tory Lanez. Lanez was sentenced to prison in 2022 for the incident. Minaj’s lyrics and engagement with fans mocking Megan’s injuries on X, formerly Twitter, intensified the tension.
Megan and Minaj, who worked together on “Hot Girl Summer” in 2019, have a strained relationship, which is believed to have worsened after Megan collaborated with Cardi B on “WAP” in 2020. Minaj’s 2023 track “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” includes a potential dig at Megan, further fueling the feud.
