Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail has suspended all inmate meetings until October 18 due to heightened security measures.
The Punjab government enacted this suspension, which, as confirmed by jail authorities, affected all inmates, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
This security-driven ban prohibits interaction between prisoners and their families, attorneys, or political affiliates. Notably, Imran Khan, currently detained, will be unable to engage with his legal team, relatives, or party officials during this time.
Jail officials linked this decision to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation event, prompting increased security in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. This action aims to maintain regional safety and stability during the significant international gathering.
Under this ban, no Adiala Jail inmate may see their families or lawyers until the ban concludes on October 18.
