Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans are at odds over recent casting rumours. Many are disappointed as speculation points to Taylor Swift potentially playing Lady Deadpool rather than the anticipated Blake Lively.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Hollywood’s beloved couple, have not appeared together onscreen since the 2011 film Green Lantern. Fans have long hoped for their reunion in Reynolds’ popular Deadpool series. There was strong speculation that Lively might portray Lady Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie, a character similar to Reynolds but from an alternate universe.
Unfortunately for fans, recent rumours indicate that Lively is not in the running for the role. This news has left many feeling let down, as they were eager to see the couple together again in significant roles.
The disappointment escalated when rumours emerged about Taylor Swift’s possible involvement in the MCU. The speculation gained momentum after Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld posted a photo of Swift dressed as the character. Fans expressed their frustration on social media, with many believing Lively would have been the ideal choice for Lady Deadpool due to her acting skills and chemistry with Reynolds.
Responses on X, formerly Twitter, included comments like “It’s going to be Taylor Swift, isn’t it…” and “Lady dp better not be Swift, I swear.” Another user lamented, “What a wasted opportunity,” while another speculated, “It’s either someone different or Taylor Swift is playing her instead of Dazzler.”
Despite these strong reactions, it’s important to note that Marvel has not confirmed any casting decisions. “Deadpool & Wolverine” is scheduled for release on July 26, 2024. As the film’s premiere approaches, fans hold out hope that Lively and Reynolds will eventually reunite in a future project that brings them back together on the big screen.
