The current host of Jeopardy, Mayim Bialik, recently shared her struggles with feelings of self-worth and relevance. She made these revelations during an “Ask Mayim Anything” session on her podcast “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown.”
In a recent episode posted on YouTube, a listener asked the 47-year-old star, “What do you do when you feel useless, irrelevant and worthless, or do you not ever feel that way?” Bialik, a veteran actress known for her roles in “The Big Bang Theory” and “Call Me Kat,” didn’t shy away from acknowledging her internal battles.
She confessed, “I do feel that way, and it’s a hard question to answer because I know from where I’m sitting, obviously, I have a platform, and I get to talk to people.” The multifaceted actress further detailed her insecurities, saying she often feels like she’s not doing enough or doing it correctly, and the thought of looking foolish is a constant fear.

Bialik shared that she counters these feelings with exercise, meditation, and healthy eating. However, she acknowledged the difficulties in accepting positive feedback due to her acting background. In an industry where constant praises are commonplace, Bialik admitted it’s sometimes hard to believe the affirmations.
Further, she encouraged those feeling “consistently or persistently useless, irrelevant, and worthless” to seek professional assistance or confide in a trusted person.
The Jeopardy! host’s honesty comes amid constant criticism from a section of the show’s viewers. Bialik has often been the target of negative comments on social media, with some fans claiming her co-host, Ken Jennings, has a more personable approach. There was a notable celebration from these viewers when Jennings returned to host the game show due to Bialik’s absence as she was supporting the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.
