Ever since Komal Rizvi took a selfie with an ailing Abdul Sattar Edhi, the picture went viral and Pakistanis trolled the picture on social media. Branding her as insensitive and silly, several memes emerged on Twitter.
Enraged and disappointed at the response she had received, Rizvi took to her Facebook account and offered another, lengthy explanation. The Pakistani singer took to Facebook and kept a status which hit out at all those who had criticised her, “There is a reason people are afraid to do good in this country. Let it be know that the haters will tear down DO… DO gooders so that everyone else never grows enough strength to bother with it.
Let it be known that i will continue to do good for whoever i can and i will continue to post it on facebook depiste my relative discretness in the past.
Let it be known that Allah Almighty will send you angels and guardians from the strangest of places when your intentions are to serve humanity.

In all my many years of service to this country… the years of training, countless awards in recognition of my national and international albums, my super hit drama serials, my international talk shows, and Musical Tours… I have never experienced a scandal until today.
I have worked double hard to avoid any marks to my character, any harm to my family name, any controversies that may hurt my parents even if they may they be totally unfounded.
It disappoints me that the one thing that I would have liked to do discreetly, my charitable work, which i do year round one way or another in my own quiet way, was the one thing that became a target for the nation’s illiterate side to choose to siege with.
The irony of it is deeply and irrevocably saddening.
Yes I am a woman in show business. I choose to emit sounds from my vocal chords because music is my first love and passion.
If that means that is it an auto “permission” for the haters to pick on my personal life than so be it. It has never been easy for me. I have always had to prove again and again that what i do isn’t wrong or sinful and bad. It’s just music. Music spread love and smiles.
