On her return trip from inaugurating a children’s nutrition program in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made an impromptu stop at a roadside tea stall and captured public attention with her approachable demeanour. Opting to sit on a traditional charpoy, she shared tea with residents, who expressed delight at her unexpected visit.
The residents took the opportunity to discuss their recent electricity bill reductions with the Chief Minister, expressing their gratitude for a significant decrease of 14 rupees per unit. They commended her efforts, stating, “May Allah keep you happy; you have earned the prayers of the poor by reducing electricity bills.”
In response, Chief Minister Nawaz highlighted the broader economic measures being implemented under her leadership, alongside Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and mentioned her father Nawaz Sharif’s concern for citizens’ economic burdens. She detailed the government’s success in curbing inflation and reducing prices for essential commodities such as flour, sugar, ghee, pulses, and vegetables. She reassured the community of ongoing efforts to alleviate their financial stress.
