Lahore High Court (LHC) earlier today sought a written reply from the federal government over its appointment of Maryam Nawaz as chairperson of the Youth Loan Scheme.
Petitioner Zubair Niazi in his plea before the court of Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of LHC argued that the formal terms and conditions have been ignored in the appointment (effectively making it a clear case of nepotism). The petitioner argued that the appointment has been made on political grounds and pleaded to the court to declare the appointment as (null and) void.
The court summoned reply of the government and the representative of the loan scheme by November 11.
