A Mar-a-Lago armed intruder shot incident unfolded early Sunday after US Secret Service agents killed a man who unlawfully entered the secure perimeter of President Donald Trump’s Florida estate.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time, when Trump was in Washington.
In a statement posted on X, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that an armed man was shot and killed by agents, working alongside the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, after illegally entering the property.
Mar-a-Lago Perimeter Breach
The agency said the suspect, a man in his early 20s, was seen near the north gate of the Mar-a-Lago estate. He was reportedly carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.
Agents confronted the individual after he crossed into the secured area. Shots were fired, and the suspect was killed. No Secret Service personnel or law enforcement officers were injured during the encounter.
Authorities have not released additional details about the suspect’s identity or motive. Investigations are ongoing. The incident adds to a series of security concerns surrounding the former president.
Earlier this month, Ryan Routh, 59, was sentenced to life in prison for plotting to assassinate Trump at a Florida golf course in September 2024.
That alleged plot followed another assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, where 20-year-old Matthew Crooks fired multiple shots during a rally. One bullet grazed Trump’s right ear. Crooks was shot and killed by security forces at the scene.
These incidents have placed heightened focus on presidential security protocols. Officials have not indicated whether the latest Mar-a-Lago incident is connected to any prior threats.
Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the perimeter breach.
