Bruno Fernandes played a decisive role, scoring from the penalty spot before delivering the free kick that Benjamin Sesko headed home to complete the turnaround. The result extended interim boss Michael Carrick’s unbeaten run to seven matches.
United now sit on 51 points from 28 games, while Palace remain 14th on 35 points.
Manchester United Win Seals Third Place
Crystal Palace started strongly and stunned the hosts after just four minutes. Maxence Lacroix powered in a header from a corner, marking the earliest goal United have conceded this season.
Palace continued to press, and Daniel Munoz nearly doubled the lead, but goalkeeper Senne Lammens produced a key save.
United gradually grew into the match. Before halftime, Sesko and Fernandes both tested Dean Henderson, who kept Palace ahead with important stops.
The turning point came in the 57th minute. Fernandes calmly converted a penalty after Matheus Cunha was brought down by Lacroix, who received a red card following a VAR review.
Just eight minutes later, Sesko rose highest to nod home Fernandes’ free kick, completing the comeback.
Under Carrick, United have remained unbeaten since mid-January. The team has won six of its last seven league matches and moved into third for the first time since May 2023.
Fernandes emphasised the importance of consistency, noting that there are still many games left in the race for a top-four finish.
United pushed for a third goal late on. Casemiro, Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo all came close, but Henderson kept the scoreline tight.
Palace pressed in the closing stages, yet United defended resolutely to secure all three points. The victory reinforces United’s momentum at a crucial stage of the season, while Palace will reflect on missed opportunities after a strong opening half-hour.
