London Police detained a man for crashing a car into Buckingham Palace’s gates this weekend, they announced Sunday.
As reported, the man crashed the car into the main gate at 2:30 am Saturday. However, there have been no injuries. Officers arrested him for criminal damage, leading to a hospital evaluation. Subsequently, authorities placed him under the Mental Health Act, later releasing him on bail as investigations proceed. This incident is not viewed as terrorism.
Buckingham Palace, a highly secured royal dwelling, experiences vigilant surveillance. Despite robust security, the palace has witnessed several intrusion attempts. Last year, a 25-year-old aimed to access the royal stables, resulting in arrest.
In preparation for King Charles III’s coronation, police apprehended an individual for lobbing shotgun cartridges into the palace grounds. Additionally, a 43-year-old faced arrest for targeting the gates of Downing Street, the Prime Minister’s residence, with his car.
