Following Pakistan’s defeat to India in the T20 World Cup, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that significant changes are imminent for the national team.
India secured a narrow six-run victory over Pakistan in last night’s match. Rishabh Pant scored 42 runs, and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets. Pakistan scored 113, falling short of India’s 119 and diminishing their chances of advancing to the Super Eight stage.
“A minor surgery seemed sufficient initially, but the poor performance against India has made it clear that major surgery is necessary,” Naqvi stated in a post-match press conference.
Naqvi described the current state of Pakistani cricket as a low point, emphasizing that improving team performance is the primary challenge.
He indicated that significant changes are forthcoming, including giving opportunities to new talent in preparation for the Champions Trophy. “We aim to make the Pakistani cricket team one of the best in the world,” Naqvi affirmed.
In conclusion, Naqvi addressed the nation’s expectations, acknowledging the need for improved performance. “The nation expects better, and we must deliver,” he added.
