A tragic accident in the Matta Banda area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lower Kohistan district claimed the lives of eight family members when their Rawalpindi-bound Suzuki car plunged into a deep ravine, police reported.

Station House Officer (SHO) Buland Iqbal while talking to Dawn News stated, “A family was returning from Gilgit Baltistan … and experienced the accident,” noting that four children, their parents Asif and Maimuna Iqbal, and two female relatives, Ayesha and Bushra Siddique, died instantly after the vehicle fell from a height.

Residents and Rescue 1122 retrieved the bodies, which were then transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Pattan, as reported by Haroon Rasheed, the district emergency officer for Rescue 1122. Arrangements are being made to send the deceased, all of whom were residents of Rawalpindi, back to their hometown.
