Recently, a Soviet-era research centre was unearthed in Antarctica. It’s a remnant from the Cold War, hidden for years. Explorer Chris Brown and his son Mika found it after their plane malfunctioned at -28°C. They shared their discovery on TikTok.

A Lenin statue, peeking from the snow, marked the site. Inside, they found a 1958 meteorological station. Viewers were stunned, intrigued by the hidden building under Lenin. This find adds mystery to Antarctica’s desolate expanses. Chris aims to reach all land-based Poles of Inaccessibility. He shared a Cold War anecdote about the Lenin statue.

Americans once turned it towards Washington. The Russians realigned it to face Moscow, a playful historical conflict. Chris was puzzled by the cables on the statue’s plinth. He speculated on their purpose and the box’s secrets.

Chris’s Antarctic adventures continue, echoing through the icy silence. He’s close to visiting all seven inaccessible poles.
