London police have alerted relatives of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about a serious threat of violence from unidentified sources, based on intelligence information received from West Midlands Police.
Geo News, a local channel in Pakistan, reported that detectives from Scotland Yard visited the Avenfield apartments. They briefed the family about the current threat level and shared safety recommendations. The family was urged to stay alert and careful in their activities.
The specifics of the threat and its origins are not revealed, and authorities withhold details on possible suspects.
In response to the threat, Scotland Yard has implemented necessary measures to mitigate any risk to the Sharif family. This includes restrictions placed on individuals like activist Gulfam Hussain, who was recently arrested outside the Avenfield properties and is now under bail conditions preventing him from approaching the premises.
The arrest followed threats a group of Birmingham-based TikTokers issued during live broadcasts, which led to heightened security concerns. The police are investigating these threats, analyzing videos linked to the case. Hussain has denied making any threats.
Most members of the Sharif family have relocated back to Pakistan after a prolonged exile. Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan in November 2023 after nearly three years away. While Hussain Nawaz primarily resides in Saudi Arabia, his wife and children remain in London. Hasan Nawaz, another of Nawaz’s sons, now lives in Lahore and assists his father.
