London Police declined to act on the Pakistan High Commission’s complaint about former Chief Justice Faez Issa’s Middle Temple assault due to insufficient evidence.
The City of London Police has decided not to pursue action against anyone regarding a complaint filed by the Pakistan High Commission. The complaint alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists attacked Justice (retired) Qazi Faez Isa and the High Commission’s diplomatic car on October 28 outside the Middle Temple. The decision was made due to insufficient evidence.
The High Commission complained about instructions from the Foreign Office, requesting the police to review footage of the incident to identify the perpetrators.
The alleged attack occurred as former Chief Justice Isa left Middle Temple after being sworn in as a Master Bencher. Viral footage showed PTI activists banging on the car and Isa and his wife shielding their faces.

On October 29, the High Commission sent a Note Verbale to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) seeking assistance from the diplomatic police. Copies were also shared with the Foreign Office and the British High Commission.
Police Findings and Case Closure
According to a security source, the police informed the High Commission that there was insufficient evidence to take action. “The case has been shut down,” confirmed the source.
Police officers who visited the High Commission for additional inquiries were provided full details. The High Commission also shared the viral and security footage as evidence. Despite this, a police source stated that the incident did not meet the evidentiary threshold required to press charges.

The High Commission has since received confirmation that no further action will be taken. “We followed the rules and did everything necessary,” a source stated.
In response to the incident, authorities in Pakistan revoked the passports of 23 individuals allegedly involved in the attack. Following the Middle Temple event, their names were added to the Passport Control List.
