Logan Paul’s energy drink company, Prime Hydration, is facing a $68 million lawsuit from Bottler Refresco Beverages for allegedly breaching a manufacturing agreement.
The company, co-founded by Paul in 2018 and boosted into popularity by 2022, is accused of not fulfilling a promise to purchase a minimum volume of products. Refresco claims it was contracted to supply 18.5 million cases annually over three years, but Prime fell short of this commitment.
Documents filed on August 2nd in Delaware’s Chancery Court reveal that Refresco incurred significant expenses to meet Prime’s specific bottle production needs by April 2023. However, in March 2024, Prime allegedly rejected the bottles and ceased placing further orders. This breach has led Refresco to seek $68 million in damages for their financial losses.
Despite the legal challenges, Prime Hydration saw rapid market success, with sales reportedly reaching $250 million. The brand has been endorsed by celebrities such as KSI, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Judge. KSI, a co-founder and investor, along with Logan Paul, has not been named in the lawsuit. Both Congo Brands and Paul have declined to comment on the case.
This lawsuit is among several legal battles Prime confronts, including class-action suits over alleged false advertising and questionable ingredients.
In 2023, high caffeine levels in their products prompted Senator Charles Schumer to call for an FDA investigation. The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has also taken legal action against Prime for trademark infringements.
