Twelve teams have secured their spots for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as the Super 8 stage of the current tournament concluded.
The T20 World Cup 2026 edition will maintain the structure of the ongoing tournament, with 20 teams split into four groups of five. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
Following their win against Nepal, Bangladesh has advanced to the next round, confirming their place among the twelve teams for the 2026 World Cup. Pre-qualifying teams include hosts India and Sri Lanka, along with seven teams from the 2024 World Cup Super 8s: Australia, England, Bangladesh, USA, Afghanistan, South Africa, and West Indies.
Pakistan, New Zealand, and Ireland have also qualified based on superior team rankings. The remaining eight teams will be determined through regional qualifiers.
After a disappointing performance in the 2024 tournament, rumours circulated that Pakistan might have to compete in regional qualifiers for the next World Cup. Pakistan’s campaign began with an unexpected Super Over loss to the USA and continued with a six-wicket defeat to India, pushing them towards early elimination. However, they secured victories against Canada and Ireland, finishing third in Group A with four points from four matches.
