Lionel Messi delivered a spectacular performance, leading Inter Miami to a 4-1 victory over New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Boston.
Messi, who reached 1,200 career assists, dramatically changed the game’s momentum with two goals. Despite Tomas Chanclalay giving New England the lead just 40 seconds into the match, Messi equalized in the 32nd minute, signalling the start of Miami’s dominance.
His second goal in the 67th minute further cemented Miami’s control. Additional goals from Benjamin Cremaschi in the 83rd minute and Luis Suárez in the 88th minute sealed the win.
Suárez, entering the game in the 64th minute, quickly made his mark. His late goal, assisted by Messi, capped off a robust team performance.
This win strengthens Inter Miami’s top position in the Eastern Conference with 21 points, marking them as the leading team in MLS. Conversely, New England remains at the bottom of the standings with only four points.
Inter Miami will host the New York Red Bulls next, while New England visits the Chicago Fire.
