Lahore High Court (LHC) restored the provincial cabinet and Parvez Elahi as chief minister after he promised not to dissolve Punjab Assembly.
The LHC wants Elahi to promise not to dissolve the assembly, which might aggravate the province’s political crisis.
Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman denotified the PML-Q leader as chief minister after he failed to take a vote of confidence.
A five-member bench led by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and including Justices Justices Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Asim Hafeez and Muzamil Akhtar Shabir heard the case.
The court asked Elahi’s lawyer to confer with his client during breaks. Subsequently, the court reinstated the PML-Q leader after he assured the bench that he will not resign or dissolve the assemblies. The LHC called all parties on January 11.
