At 72, the celebrated ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas has passed away. His team disclosed his passing due to a prolonged illness, noting he had been unwell recently. He passed at Breach Candy Hospital, as India Today reports.
Nayaab Udhas, his daughter, conveyed the family’s deep loss, marking his passing on February 26, 2024, after enduring a long illness.
Pankaj Udhas, born in Gujarat on May 17, 1951, won hearts with his ghazals from the 1980s onwards. His musical and philanthropic efforts were widely acclaimed. His 1989 album “Nabeel” saw significant sales, with its first copy auctioned for charity. Udhas was deeply involved in supporting cancer and thalassemia patients.
His career was marked by numerous hits like “Chitthi Aayi Hai” and “Jeeye To Jeeye Kaise,” cementing his legacy in Indian music. Udhas leaves a profound impact through his songs and charitable work, ensuring his legacy endures.
