LeBron James, nearing 40 and the oldest active player in the NBA, hinted at retirement following a spectacular 40-point game against the Brooklyn Nets, where the Lakers won 116-104.
LeBron James’ performance, marked by a personal best of nine three-pointers out of ten attempts, showcased his enduring skill. Yet, in a candid post-game interview, James acknowledged the nearing end of his NBA journey, stating, “I don’t have much time left.”
“Not very long. … I’m not gonna play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire. But I don’t have much time left.” James asserted
James, who recently became the Association’s all-time leading scorer, wants to play in the NBA alongside his son, Bronny, before retiring.
This ambition might influence the length of his career. Bronny, currently an NCAA player at the University of Southern California, had his debut season postponed last summer due to a serious health scare. LeBron’s decision on whether to continue with the Lakers depends on his choice regarding his player option for the upcoming season.
