Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) killed 11 terrorists in South Waziristan’s Wana region and averted high-profile terrorist activity.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Thursday that security personnel “thwarted a high-profile terrorist activity” during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in the area.
Hafiz Ullah and two suicide bombers were among the gunned-down militants, the military’s media wing stated. A large number of weapons and ammunition were also seized in the IBO.
“The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of police in South Waziristan district,” the ISPR mentioned.
Terrorism in Pakistan has lately risen since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called off a truce with Islamabad in November.
The TTP reunited in Afghanistan after the Taliban’s takeover, and Pakistan has asked the interim government to ensure that its soil isn’t exploited for terrorism. The Taliban-led government has disappointed.
According to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, 31% of militant attacks last year were in Balochistan and 67% in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In its annual study, the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) said Pakistan suffered 376 terror acts in the last year, with TTP, Daesh, and the Balochistan Liberation Army claiming most of them (BLA).
The National Security Committee (NSC) resolved on January 2 that no country would be allowed to give refuge and facilitation to terrorists, and Pakistan reserves all rights to protect its people.
