The Federal Bureau of Statistics of Pakistan released its weekly inflation report for Pakistan, revealing nuanced shifts in the cost of essential goods. Over the past week, the country saw a slight inflation increase of 0.01%, bringing the overall inflation rate to 14.36%.
This week’s data indicates price fluctuations across various essential items. Prices for 15 essential goods rose, while 14 others decreased, and 22 remained stable, maintaining the overall inflation rate at 14.36%. Significant price increases were noted in tomatoes, which rose by Rs. 7.40 per kilogram, live chicken by Rs. 16.07 per kilogram, chickpeas by Rs. 9.26 per kilogram, beef by Rs. 11.00 per kilogram, and garlic by Rs. 12.00 per kilogram.

Additionally, mutton prices climbed by Rs. 14 per kilogram. Other items such as broken Basmati rice, ghee, yoghurt, and fresh milk also experienced hikes. Notably, electricity unit prices increased by 26 paise last week.
Conversely, some essential items became more affordable. Bananas per dozen dropped by Rs. 8.00, and masoor dal (split red lentils) per kilogram decreased by up to Rs. 8.00. The cost for a 20-kilogram bag of flour fell by Rs. 17.00, eggs per dozen by Rs. 3.00, and potatoes per kilogram by 82 paise. Price reductions were also seen in sugar, edible oil, onions, and other deals.
