A massive gas explosion in the Lasbela area of Balochistan has left at least 12 people dead and dozens of others injured.
The police report that the cylinder exploded while refilling at a filling station in Lasbela’s famous Bela market. The explosion also damaged surrounding buildings, shops, and perhaps two dozen parked motorcycles.
Levies Officials reached the scene and transported the injured to the hospital.
Lasbela deputy commissioner Murad Kasi told the media, “At least 25 individuals, including the shop owner, sustained burn injuries in the cylinder explosion,”
Dr. Robina Bashir of Civil Hospital Karachi reported that 25 patients were treated at the hospital’s burns center. However, twelve of them passed away during therapy. The death toll is expected to grow as the status of further victims with 70 to 90 percent burn burns was deemed critical.
The police have launched an investigation to determine who was responsible for the event.
