Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, believes that his difficult period as Everton’s manager has improved his coaching skills.
Frank Lampard is now preparing for his second tenure as Chelsea’s boss after managing the club from July 2019 until January 2021, when Thomas Tuchel succeeded him.
Lampard’s return to Stamford Bridge as caretaker manager came on the heels of Graham Potter’s dismissal on Sunday, as Chelsea languished in the bottom half of the Premier League standings.
Struggles marked Lampard’s time at Everton, as he managed to save the club from relegation before leaving his position in January. However, he claims that this challenging experience at Goodison Park gave him valuable insights and lessons to apply in his current role.
According to Lampard, he has evolved as a manager and is always open to listening, learning, and reflecting on his past experiences.
As he begins his second spell at Chelsea, Lampard’s performance will be closely scrutinized. In addition, his tenure may be assessed based on the team’s performance in the Champions League, where Chelsea is set to face European champions Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
Lampard, who was part of the squad that won the 2012 final against Bayern Munich, believes that his connection to the club and understanding of its history will be advantageous as they pursue their third Champions League title.
