Lahore schools will be closed on Friday and Saturday due to the prevailing smog.
The School Education Department announced the weekly closures in accordance with Lahore High Court rulings (LHC).
All private and public schools in District Lahore must comply. The notification stated, “In compliance with the directions of Hon’ble Lahore High Court, Lahore, in Writ Petition No. 227807/ 2018 vide order dated 02-12-2022, it is notified that owing to prevailing SMOG condition, all Public & Private Schools in District Lahore shall remain closed on every Friday & Saturday, in addition to the weekly holiday on Sunday till further orders,”
The chief executive officer of the District Education Authority (DEA), Lahore, and concerned heads shall distribute assignments to students during school closures.
The Lahore High Court ordered the government to close schools at least three days a week.
Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC issued the order while hearing environmental petitions.
