A female student of a government university in Lahore was reportedly gang-raped and filmed by three men, according to police reports from Tuesday.
The police explained that the primary suspect had initially connected with the victim through a social networking app. He lured her to a location in Muslim Town under the pretence of discussing marriage. Upon her arrival, he escorted her to a private housing society, supposedly for breakfast, where he and two accomplices committed the sexual assault and recorded the ordeal.
The first information report (FIR) detailed that the assailants further intimidated the victim by stealing two cheques from her sister’s chequebook, which she had in her handbag, and threatened to distribute the videos on social media if she disclosed the assault.

Authorities have formally registered an FIR and are actively investigating to swiftly apprehend the culprits.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another case in Mardan, where five employees of a government hospital were charged with the rape of a 32-year-old woman who had sought medical treatment there. Police have arrested one of the accused, and efforts are ongoing to identify and capture the remaining suspects.
Since then, the woman from the Mardan case has provided a formal statement under Section 164 before a judicial magistrate, which is crucial for the legal proceedings against the accused.
