Lahore’s traffic police have ramped efforts against motorcyclists who fail to wear helmets. In just nine days, the traffic police have issued 152,888 warnings to motorcyclists for not wearing helmets, as stated by Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Mustansar. The crackdown has seen fines issued to 23,767 motorcyclists, while over 38,000 motorcycles have been confiscated across Lahore.
In enforcing the helmet law, authorities have seized the documents of 77,119 motorcycles. The CTO stressed that nobody, not even those in police or government positions, are exempt from this law.
Mustansar clarified that the main objective isn’t to issue tickets but to prioritize citizen safety. He called on the public to use helmets to safeguard themselves and their loved ones. Additionally, he directed the Lahore traffic police to intensify their efforts against riders further found not using helmets.
