The Lahore High Court has reinstated Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Rana Faraz Noon for the NA-154 Lodhran seat, overturning Abdul Rehman Kanju’s prior victory notification.
In addition, the court suspended the success notification of PML-N assembly member Rana Arshad from PP-133.
Rana Arshad, who had already assumed his duties after taking the oath of office, stated he had not received any formal court decision but affirmed his readiness to respond to any court summons. He clarified that his election victory was not directly contested; the issues were related to recounting processes. Arshad also noted that his constituency had been without representation for two months, stressing the urgency of addressing the needs of his constituents.
Furthermore, the Lahore High Court’s decision impacted additional seats, including reinstating Bilal Ijaz for NA-81 Gujranwala and Muhammad Atif for PP-133 Nankana Sahib.
The court ruled that the election commission’s actions in these instances were unlawful, specifically citing irregularities such as double stamping and fraudulent counting that had initially led to the candidates’ electoral defeat.
