The Lahore High Court has highlighted the administrative strategies following the arrest of Sanam Javed.
Sanam Javed was first detained under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) on May 10. Her arrest was contested, leading to another detention on May 17 under case number 96/23. She was granted bail on September 23, only to be re-arrested two days later under case number 109/23. She approached the Lahore High Court after her subsequent arrest on October 11.
The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Legal affairs informed the court that the petitioner was required for just two cases. However, she was arrested again on October 20 under case number 1271/23. After being discharged by an anti-terrorism court on October 21, she was again taken into custody under case number 366/23.
Following her bail on November 7, she was arrested under case number 410/23 the next day. After another bail on December 2, an MPO order was issued, later challenged and retracted on December 29 by the Lahore High Court. Yet, before her release could be finalized, she was detained again on December 30 under case number 367/23. On January 29, the same day she was granted bail, she was apprehended under case number 768/23. She received bail again on March 27, only to be astonishingly arrested on April 1 in Mianwali under case number 179/23.
The Anti-Terrorism Court in Sargodha discharged her from the case on April 17, yet she was arrested the same day under case number 180/23 in Mianwali. She secured bail on May 29, only to be detained again in Musa Khel under case number 72/73, where she eventually got bail on June 5.
The Anti-Terrorism Court in Sargodha thwarted further attempts to arrest her in Mianwali. Nevertheless, she was arrested again on June 5 in Gujranwala under case number 823/23. To ensure her continued detention, the Deputy Commissioner of Gujranwala issued an MPO order on June 6, likely due to concerns the Gujranwala court might also discharge the case. Fortunately, the judge promptly granted the physical remand. Once their intended objective was seemingly achieved, the Deputy Commissioner of Gujranwala rescinded his detention order.
