Two people have died following a fire at the Indigo Heights Hotel and Suites in Gulberg, Lahore, rescue officials confirmed on Saturday as authorities continued search and clearance operations.
Police said the fire caused extensive damage to basement number one of the hotel, which spans four kanals, includes 19 storeys, and has three underground basements. Hotel management initially reported one person missing. Police later clarified that a CCTV operator employed by the hotel remained unaccounted for as rescue teams continued the operation.
Rescue officials later confirmed that the death toll had risen to two. One victim worked in the hotel’s laundry section. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the second deceased person.
