Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has committed to holding accountable those responsible for a deadly fire in Mangaf city that claimed 49 lives.
Kuwait’s Emir’s comes after a revised death toll issued by Kuwait’s Interior Ministry, which increased the number from 41 after thorough investigations by forensic teams.
In response to the tragedy, Kuwait’s ambassador to India, Meshal Mustafa J Alshemali, expressed deep condolences and sympathy for the victims and their families. He prayed for mercy for the deceased and a swift recovery for the injured.
Ambassador Alshemali reiterated the importance of the ongoing investigations into the fire, stating, “His Highness the Emir demands a swift determination of the causes and accountability for those responsible.”
Meanwhile, Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs of India, is set to travel urgently to Kuwait at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His mission is to provide assistance to Indians affected by the tragedy and to coordinate the repatriation of the deceased with local authorities.
The Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Adarsh Swaika, has already visited over 30 injured Indian workers at Al-Adan Hospital and the fire site in Mangaf. He confirmed that the embassy actively collaborates with local officials to address the situation.
