On August 7, 2025, a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) team, led by Assistant Collector Hizbullah Khan, held a productive meeting with the Wedding Hall Association of Haripur at the KPRA Sub-Office. The discussion focused on ensuring compliance with the Sales Tax on Services. Assistant Collector Khan urged wedding hall owners to make timely tax payments and submit accurate monthly sales tax returns in accordance with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sales Tax on Services Act 2022.

The KPRA team briefed participants on recent amendments to the 2022 Act, offering wedding hall businesses the flexibility to choose between a fixed tax rate or a category-based tax structure. For the fiscal year 2024-25, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government set fixed taxes at Rs25,000 for Category A halls and Rs15,000 for Category B halls, as announced by Chief Minister’s Advisor on Finance Muzammil Aslam during a post-budget press conference. Aslam also noted a reduction in restaurant taxes from 10% to 6% and exemptions for FATA and PATA regions.

Wedding hall owners welcomed the KPRA’s initiative, pledging full compliance with the updated regulations. Hizbullah Khan assured continued support from the Haripur Sub-Office, emphasising guidance to facilitate adherence. He praised the owners for their contributions to provincial revenue and reiterated KPRA’s commitment to assisting taxpayers under the law, fostering a cooperative environment for compliance.

The meeting reflects KPRA’s proactive efforts to streamline tax compliance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in sectors like hospitality that significantly contribute to provincial revenue. The flexible tax options aim to ease financial burdens while ensuring accountability. This initiative aligns with broader fiscal reforms, including tax reductions in other sectors, to boost economic activity in the region.

The KPRA’s engagement with wedding hall owners underscores the importance of tax compliance for sustainable revenue generation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The updated tax structure and support measures promote fairness and economic growth. For accurate updates on tax policies, rely on trusted sources like The News and official KPRA statements to avoid misinformation.
