Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to shut down those government schools having less 50 students.

District education officers in Upper Dir and Swat have issued notifications in this regard urging headmasters of the government schools to expedite their efforts to increase the students’ strength in their schools within one month, otherwise the facilities will be closed down, reported a private news channel.

Headmasters are further told to start door-to-door campaigns in their respective areas with the help of parents-teachers council and local elders to enroll maximum number of kids.

According to an official of the education department, those schools where the strength of students is less than 50, will be closed.

He added that the teachers and the students will be accommodated in nearby schools.

Official informed that the decision to close schools having less than 50 students is part of the rationalization policy which is being implemented to minimize government expenses. (APP)
