In a statement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police announced the arrest of five individuals, including four Levies personnel, during a raid near the Marai checkpoint in Kohat for allegedly trafficking weapons.
Kohat Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Fazl Naeem stated that the operation thwarted a dangerous scheme. The arrested suspects included four Levies Force members involved in smuggling a significant quantity of arms and ammunition.
Kohat Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Zahid Khan reported that a government pickup vehicle was found carrying a large number of weapons and ammunition illegally, leading to the immediate suspension of the four Levies personnel involved. Confiscated items included light and heavy weapons, explosive materials, and thousands of ammunition rounds.
The statement attributed the operation to a joint effort between Sher Akbar Khan, Kohat’s regional police officer, and Jamilur Rehman, the district police officer for Kohat.
The Usterzai police station in Kohat has registered a case, and further investigations are ongoing. The detainees are interrogated regarding possible sabotage plans, with significant revelations anticipated. The KP Police shared images of the confiscated weapons and ammunition on their official Twitter account.
