The Excise Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the launch of special and customised vehicle number plates, introducing a new category of premium registrations in the province.
According to the department, the auction for these unique number plates will take place in Peshawar on January 27. The initiative includes number plates linked to prominent tribal identities and well-known family names from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials said the plates will feature names such as Wazirun, Mahsudun, Khattak One, and Mohmandun. Additional plates will also be auctioned under popular surnames, including Khan, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Swati, Arbāb, Khalil, Afridi, and Yusufzai.
The Excise Department added that region-based special plates will also be available. These include registrations named after Malakand, Abbottabad, Kohat, and Bannu, allowing buyers to display regional identity through personalised number plates.
The base price for each special number plate has been set at Rs 1 million. To participate in the auction, interested bidders must submit a security deposit of Rs100,000 in advance.
The department clarified that bidders must pay the remaining amount within the specified timeframe after winning the auction. Failure to complete the payment will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit.
Officials said the initiative aims to generate additional revenue for the province while offering citizens an exclusive option for customised vehicle registration.
