The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that salaries and pensions for all public sector employees and pensioners will be disbursed by May 30, 2025, ahead of Eidul al-Adha.
The provincial Finance Department issued a directive to all government departments, mandating payments by the last working day of May. This accommodates the weekend, as June 1, 2025, falls on a Sunday. The move aims to provide financial ease for employees and pensioners preparing for Eidul al-Adha, expected on June 7, 2025.
Eidul al-Adha, one of Islam’s two major festivals, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (A.S.) devotion to Allah through his willingness to sacrifice his son. A key ritual, Qurbani, involves sacrificing animals like goats, sheep, cows, or camels, with the meat shared among family, friends, and the less fortunate. Dr. Fatima Noor, an Islamic studies scholar at Peshawar University, explains, “Eidul Adha fosters compassion and community, reflecting the festival’s core values of generosity.”
Pakistan Railways will operate five special trains from June 2 to 4, 2025, connecting multiple cities to facilitate holiday travel. This initiative ensures smooth travel for families reuniting during the festive period, a significant occasion especially cherished by children.
